“I think it’s important that I can help other people with my blood donation,” summarizes Kai Teklote, prospective industrial clerk at Bocholt-based mechanical engineering company SPALECK.
The Family-owned business organized this blood donation day as an unscheduled event after learning about the shortage of blood reserves. SPALECK is planning another blood donation day in June 2021.
“Around 80 employees have signed up for today’s donation. They all took part during working hours,” says the apprentice, who is currently working in marketing as part of his training and helped organize the donation. “The short lead time was no problem. This is now the 5th SPALECK blood donation day that we have organized together with the German Red Cross Blood Donor Service West,” reports Kai Teklote.
Reinhard Große Sundrup from Blutspendedienst West: “We are very pleased that companies like SPALECK are offering donation appointments for their employees, even in times of coronavirus. Unfortunately, these important campaigns have been declining for a year now. Thanks to a sophisticated protection concept, donations in companies and public schools can be carried out safely at a distance.”
The basis for this is the mobile blood donation bus, which was used right next to SPALECK’s own health center. Kai Teklote on the smooth running of the event: “Unfortunately, our team had to do without the traditional refreshments in the form of a snack this time. Instead, each donor received a packed lunch from the DRK so that they could resume their work after the donation.”
In this context, our SPALECK team would like to thank all donors for their commitment to donating blood as well as the team of the blood donation service and the DRK Bocholt city association for their great and extensive support.
