Spaleck finalist for the German government’s CSR prize
Federal Minister Nahles praises particularly sustainable companies
Bocholt/Berlin, January 24, 2017 – The Family-owned business SPALECK GmbH & Co. KG was honored in Berlin on Tuesday by patron and Federal Minister Andrea Nahles as a finalist of the CSR Award 2017 for its great social commitment. A total of 26 companies were honored in three size categories and the two special award categories “Integration of Refugees” and “Sustainable Supply Chains”. One company was honored in each category. This year, six companies received the special prize for integration, representing many other committed companies. CSR – Corporate Social Responsibility – means responsible and sustainable corporate management.
“Being among the top 5 in the size category up to 249 employees is an enormous honor for our team. Even if we weren’t able to bring the “really big prize” to Bocholt this time, the nomination alone is a great confirmation of our sustainability strategy. We would therefore also like to congratulate Gundlach from Hanover on winning this year’s CSR award,” said a delighted Andreas Ahler and Carsten Sühling, Managing Directors of Spaleck.
Spaleck was able to score points in its application for the award with two extensive CSR measures: the Spaleck Health Circle as an active instrument of company health management and the SPALECK TestCenter. The state-of-the-art test center for screening technology helps to significantly increase the recycling rates of recycling companies worldwide.
Carsten Sühling: “The German government’s CSR award is intended to focus the public’s attention on sustainable business practices and to promote this in companies as a long-term self-image. In addition to social and economic aspects, ecological aspects play a particularly important role here.”
Thanks to its vision “Successful for people and the environment”, the fifth-generation Family-owned business in Bocholt has transformed itself over the past decades from a textile to a “green” machine manufacturer. Today, Spaleck with its 230 employees is one of the leading international manufacturers of screening technology. It is also a supplier of CNC Precision parts and complex sheet metal and steel products for metal processing, particularly for the future-oriented sectors of renewable energies, mobility and general mechanical engineering.
The Federal Government’s CSR Award
The Federal Government uses the CSR Award to draw attention to companies that integrate sustainability and social responsibility into their business activities. The aim is to reward outstanding examples of social commitment and encourage other companies to follow suit. The prize is awarded to companies that set an example of fair business practices and practice employee-oriented corporate management, act in an environmentally conscious manner, are committed to environmental and climate protection, are regionally active and also act responsibly towards suppliers.
