2019 was also a special year for our colleagues at our two Greiz-based companies SPALECK Oberflächenveredlung GmbH and SPALECK Präzisionstechnik GmbH & Co KG. As companies of the SPALECK Group, they are now celebrating the 150th anniversary of our family-owned group of companies founded in Greiz in 1869.
A large anniversary gala was recently held in the Vogtlandhalle. Around 150 guests were invited, including all Greiz employees and their partners as well as guests of honor from politics and Efficiency. A varied program was offered with speeches, panel discussions, employee honors as well as artistic and musical interludes.
Right at the beginning, District Administrator Martina Schweinsburg praised the great commitment of the Spaleck family and our employees for five generations. She emphasized investments of over 13.5 million euros and the creation of numerous jobs at the site on Zeulenrodaer Strasse, which have been undertaken since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
There was a particularly emotional moment when Dieter Höland, co-partner of SPALECK Oberflächenveredlung, was honored for his life’s work alongside long-standing employees. In 1991, together with Otto Spaleck, the great-grandson of the company founder, he played a key role in ensuring that Spaleck returned to its entrepreneurial roots in Greiz after fleeing the GDR after reunification.
Founded in 1869 as a small locksmith’s shop by Otto Spaleck, our company developed into one of the leading machine manufacturers for the textile industry in the 19th century. After the Second World War, the entrepreneurial family fled the GDR and established its current headquarters in Bocholt, Westphalia. In 1991, reunification made it possible, Spaleck returned to Greiz. Today, the SPALECK Group’s product range includes its own mechanical engineering for recycling technology, supply units for metal processing and mechanically machined CNC Precision parts, surface finishing, the production of Metal & environmental chemistry, as well as solutions for the treatment of process water. We employ 410 people at our sites in Bocholt, Greiz, Borne (Netherlands), Loudon (USA) and Resita (Romania). Over the decades, we have evolved from a textile machine manufacturer to a globally sought-after “green” machine manufacturer.
