MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SINCE 1869
From the very beginning, moving forward together and daring to try new things have been at the heart of everything we do. As a reputable business, we have always manufactured high-quality, reliable products and maintained fair and honest relationships with our customers, business partners, and employees. Join us in looking back on over 150 years of SPALECK.

TEN YEARS OF GROWTH IN NORTH AMERICA
In Charleroi, Pennsylvania, the new manufacturing and distribution facility is being officially inaugurated. With expanded capacity, SPALECK now offers recycling technology for North and South America.

THE LARGEST INVESTMENT IN THE COMPANY'S HISTORY
With the acquisition of HMT, SPALECK is setting the stage for the next phase of growth for the corporate group. The product portfolio will be expanded to include industrial dampers and valve technology. At the same time, the investment lays the groundwork for the expansion of metalworking and industrial Contract manufacturing at the Rhede site.

CAPABILITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
The positive development of recent years has made it necessary to expand the Reșița site. By adding additional production and manufacturing space, SPALECK is laying the groundwork for further sustainable growth while also strengthening collaboration within the international corporate group.

LOOKING AHEAD, EVEN IN OUR ANNIVERSARY YEAR
At our locations in Bocholt, Greiz, Loudon (USA), Borne (NL), and Resita (ROM, photo), we are growing profitably in harmony with society and nature. Our products benefit both people and the environment. We are shaping a sustainable future. Our processes are lean and resource-efficient. Our ideas help reduce our ecological footprint. To this end, we consistently invest in future-oriented technologies.

INNOVATION HOTBED: ALWAYS CLOSE TO OUR CUSTOMERS
With the founding of SPALECK USA LLC, SPALECK is expanding its presence in the North American market. Having dedicated local contacts ensures quick and efficient communication for customers, partners, and projects. At the same time, this lays the foundation for the further development of the business in the U.S.

A HOTBED OF INNOVATION FOR THE RECYCLING OF TOMORROW
“Just give it a try”—so simple, yet so ingenious. With the opening of the SPALECK TestCenter for Recycling Technology, our team offers customers from all over the world the opportunity to find new, innovative solutions for their recyclable material processing.

AWARD FOR THE 2012 BOCHOLT COMPANY OF THE YEAR
“Driven by a healthy pioneering spirit, we have always maintained a balanced risk-reward ratio—the foundation for sustainability and the future.” – Our team was thrilled to receive the Company of the Year award. The award recognizes Otto Spaleck’s tireless entrepreneurial spirit and dedication.

THE END OF AN ERA AFTER 143 YEARS
For four generations, the manufacture of textile machinery was a fundamental part of the SPALECK Group. Approximately 80 percent of all weaving heddles worldwide were manufactured on a machine built by SPALECK. The sale of this division is a sign of the company’s successful transition to becoming a “green machinery manufacturer.”

YOUR HEALTH IS IMPORTANT TO US!
The SPALECK Health Circle was founded in 2011. Its goal is to actively promote the health of every member of our workforce. In addition to setting up a fitness center on company premises, the program offers a wide variety of classes led by qualified sports scientists and trainers: yoga, cross-training, and back exercises are just a few of the options available free of charge to all employees and trainees.

WE MANUFACTURE FOR MARKET LEADERS
With the start of the new millennium, we expanded our product portfolio as a metal fabricator. We shape materials such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum into the forms our customers desire.

STRUCTURE OF THE PRECISION PARTS PRODUCT DIVISION
Metalworking is in our blood. So it’s no surprise that in 1998, we launched our new Precision parts division with the mechanical machining of components. State-of-the-art CNC machining centers and 3D measurement technology are just as much a testament to this as our manufacturing experts operating the machines.

ON THE PATH TO BECOMING A "GREEN MACHINERY MANUFACTURER"

FOUNDING OF SPALECK OBERFLÄCHENVEREDLUNG GMBH
Since 1869, we have sealed our business deals with a handshake. This was also the case when we decided to launch our business in Greiz, Thuringia—the town where we were founded—following German reunification. “Let’s just get started,” Dieter Höland and Otto Spaleck decided after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The result is one of Europe’s leading surface finishers, providing many jobs in the birthplace of the SPALECK Group.

Construction of our current headquarters

FOUNDING OF A SUCCESSOR COMPANY IN BOCHOLT
In the postwar years, SPALECK mainly supplied customers in the immediate vicinity with wooden handcarts. With the division of Germany, Siegfried Spaleck gave up all hope of a market-based economic system in the GDR. At the end of 1949, the Spalecks fled via Berlin to West Germany.

CONTINUING BUSINESS OPERATIONS UNDER THE MOST DIFFICULT CONDITIONS
The town of Greiz was subjected to only a few bombing raids during the war. SPALECK’s facilities had survived the war unscathed. However, the dismantling of the plant began in March 1946. At the end of June 1946, SPALECK received permission to resume production. Production was restarted with just a few machines.

SIEGFRIED SPALECK CONTINUES TO RUN THE COMPANY, WITH THE SUPPORT OF HIS MOTHER, CLARA, AND HIS SISTER, ELISABETH.
Max Spaleck died in 1933 at the age of 52. His son Siegfried, 23, took over the family-owned business. The Nazis’ racial policies soon hindered the business operations of Siegfried and his Jewish mother. In 1944, she was deported, and he was sent to a labor camp.

SPECIALIZATION IN THE WEB INDUSTRY
Max Spaleck took over his father’s business,
. Following Otto Spaleck’s death in 1921, his sons Max, Johannes, and Carl Spaleck carried on their father’s legacy, but divided the business among themselves. Max focused on production for the textile industry. In 1928, he expanded the product line to include the manufacture of machines for the surface treatment of mass-produced parts.

THROUGH WORLD WAR AND ECONOMIC CRISIS
In 1905, Otto Spaleck established his first business contacts in the United States. In 1913, he founded a company with American partners to manufacture weaving looms. This venture was nipped in the bud with the outbreak of World War I.

OUR MISSION: CUSTOM-BUILT MACHINES
Together with his team, Otto Spaleck demonstrated exceptional manufacturing skills and technical expertise. Before long, SPALECK machines were offering technical advantages that were unmatched on the global market.

THE BEGINNING OF A SUCCESSFUL ERA
After starting out as a craftsman, Otto Spaleck began manufacturing machinery in the mid-1870s. By the mid-1880s, he was already exporting his machines to Austria, Russia, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, and Italy.

WE ARE SHAPING THE FUTURE
In the spring of 1869, at the age of 28, Otto Spaleck opened his locksmith shop in Greiz. His customers were merchants, craftsmen, and factory owners from the neighborhood. He began training his first apprentice in September 1869.
