Growth in Metalworking, Machining, and Mechanical Engineering

Effective October 1, 2025, HMT Hebing Maschinen-Technik GmbH will become part of the SPALECK Group. The Spaleck family will take over the company’s business operations and real estate at Wochteresch in Rhede. Operations will continue under the newly founded HMT Industries GmbH & Co. KG.

This is a significant milestone for us: it is the largest single investment in the history of the SPALECK Group. At the same time, it creates new opportunities for our entire group—for our metalworking and Contract manufacturing operations, our mechanical engineering division, and the continued development of our main facility in Bocholt and our new facility in Rhede.

A company with a rich history and extensive experience

HMT was founded 54 years ago, in 1971, by Franz Hebing. The company is active in metalworking as well as in industrial fittings and flue gas technology. SPALECK and HMT have been working together as partners for many years.

In light of changing market conditions, the Hebing family has decided to sell its business operations and real estate to the SPALECK Group. All 48 employees will be retained.

This is important to us. Because HMT not only brings additional space and manufacturing capabilities to the SPALECK Group, but above all, people with experience in industrial manufacturing.

Two locations with a clear outlook

With the integration of HMT, we are further realigning our locations.

In Rhede, we will consolidate and strengthen our in-house metalworking and industrial Contract manufacturing operations. This location is emerging as a key hub for sophisticated Welded assemblies, bent parts, large-scale sheet metal fabrication, and—in the medium term—our CNC machining operations in Bocholt, which focus on the production of Precision parts.

In Bocholt, we are focusing more on expanding our in-house machine and plant engineering operations. This includes Conveying & Separation Technology for recycling, the manufacture of conveying, dosing, and separation technology for the pharmaceutical, food, chemical, and pet food industries, our SPALECK water technology, and, in the future, the new HMT production division for large industrial valves and flue gas technology.

This will create space and further growth potential for both areas: premium contract manufacturing in Bocholt and Rhede, and premium mechanical engineering in Bocholt.

More Opportunities for Our Customers

For several decades, SPALECK has been a high-performing partner and Contract manufacturer in metalworking and Machining. We manufacture products for customers in mechanical engineering, Plant engineering, and industry—ranging from laser-cut parts to bent parts up to 14 m in length, highly complex Welded assemblies, and Precision parts with millimeter-level accuracy, e.g., for use in medical technology, e-mobility, or the food industry. We are also a full-service provider, including Assembly of components with electrical installation.

The Rhede location will allow us to further expand this business segment. The property on Wochteresch—just a few minutes’ drive from our main location in Bocholt—offers additional space, improved logistics capabilities, and room for further sustainable growth.

For our customers, this step means, above all, even more opportunities to collaborate with SPALECK. We are expanding our in-house manufacturing capabilities, creating additional capacity, and will be able to serve demanding industrial projects with even greater precision in the future.

Sustainable growth for the entire group

This investment is not a one-off measure. It is part of our long-term development as a fifth-generation family-owned business.

We want to grow sustainably—with products and services that help our customers and align with our mission: to create solutions that benefit people and the environment.

This applies just as much to our metalworking as it does to our mechanical engineering. Recycling technology, process technology, water treatment, industrial valves, and industrial Contract manufacturing all have one thing in common: they are the result of experience, technical expertise, and our commitment to developing effective solutions together with our customers.

Building the Future Together

SPALECK has been evolving since 1869 in response to changes in markets, technologies, and customer requirements. The integration of HMT is a natural step in this direction.

We are investing in additional manufacturing expertise, in jobs, and in the future of our locations. Especially at a time when many metalworking companies are under pressure, we see great opportunities for industrial manufacturing in our region—as one of the largest Contract manufacturers in the country.

Together with the HMT team, we want to take advantage of these opportunities.

We’re shaping the future. Since 1869.

Frequently asked questions

The precise design of a tension-shaft screening machine is always tailored to the recycled material. Factors such as the composition of the input material, its moisture content, contaminants, throughput requirements, and the recycling goals associated with the input material form the basis for this. Working with you, we define screening sizes, purity requirements, and throughput rates, and use this information to configure the exact machine settings—from screening panels to amplitude and machine features such as the SPALECK FineSideCOVER (FSC) or our MultiDECK technology with a split push rod. Learn more here about our ModularDESIGN+ concept, which we use to find the optimal screening machine for your material. We’d be happy to test the respective recycling material together with you free of charge at the SPALECK TestCenter.

Precise screening of the fine fraction results in clearly defined particle sizes. For example, if the fine fraction ranging from 0 to 10 mm is reliably screened out, downstream sorting equipment—such as eddy current separators, NIR sorters, sensor sorters, and X-ray sorters—operates more reliably and efficiently as a result. In addition, the system’s cleaning requirements are reduced, and higher material purity levels can be achieved. You can see a good example of the benefits of a tensioned-shaft screen in the reference video on municipal solid waste processing at our Swedish customer Tekniska verken. The video demonstrates how a SPALECK tension-shaft screen reduces the load on the downstream eddy current sorters and NIR sorting processes. You can find all the details about the project here.

The service life of screening mats for Flip-Flow screening machines depends heavily on the recycled material, the Recycling process, and factors such as the abrasiveness of the material stream. In many recycling applications, very long service lives are possible. Thanks to our bolt-free, modular clamping system, individual screening mats can be replaced quickly and easily as needed. You can see how this works in the video on our landing page for tension-shaft screen machines. You can get a competitive quote for replacement screening mats through our spare parts service.
